COZY STAY in Naha

We really enjoyed our week here. The hotel was beautiful and absolutely clean, and our bedroom unit had everything in it. Free parking was a bonus. Family Mart is right next door, and there are lots of restaurants within walking distance.

There are restaurants close by, including Starbucks and McDonald's, plus a Family Mart next door. It’s a 10 minute walk to the monorail, and Shuri Castle is 20 minutes away on foot, though it’s all uphill. With the kitchen, laundry, and usable balcony, this place is great value. Just know there’s no visible staff or other guests. Everything runs on codes sent in an email shortly before check-in.

I stayed two nights in March 2024 and wouldn’t recommend it. It’s an apartment hotel with no staff around. The entrance code comes by email, and you can’t check in before 4pm. You also need a code for your room and must check out by 11am. There’s an emergency number if you forget a code or run into trouble, but as a non-Japanese speaker I couldn’t easily call with my SIM card. The room itself was very clean and everything looked new. You can cook, but there weren’t basics like oil, soy sauce, or vinegar. The owner, who never signed their name, emailed me on the second day to say another customer had complained about noise after 9pm. With no staff on site, that felt inappropriate. The monorail station is 15 minutes away, and the center is another 15 minutes by monorail, so it didn’t feel close. There are better priced hotels nearer downtown. Apart from a Family Mart two minutes away, there’s little of interest in the neighborhood. To me, this kind of soulless hotel feels like a reflection of a Japan where avoiding any interaction seems to matter most. No contact, no discomfort or trouble? My God, what a world.

There are convenience stores and restaurants within walking distance, which was nice. The bathroom products were all there, and the room was very clean and comfortable.
