Estinate Hotel Naha

The single rooms are small but clean and comfortable, and having a desk is useful. The bathroom may feel cramped if you’re tall. You can’t open the windows, but the air conditioning seems to work well. The hotel is a bit away from the Main Street and its restaurants, though there are plenty of convenience stores nearby.

For the nightly price, the basic stay is solid value. The rooms were clean, the lobby was fine, and the restaurant was pretty decent. You shouldn’t expect luxury, but the rest of the experience was good for what I paid. The laundry was easily the worst part of my stay. The machines are in poor condition, especially the dryer, which doesn’t really dry clothes. I had to keep paying over and over to finish one load, and it felt like a money grab. You could easily lose $20 or more just trying to get your clothes dry. The laundry room was humid, stuffy, and poorly maintained. Everything else was decent, but the laundry left a bad impression. If you stay here, don’t count on those facilities.

The room felt well equipped, modern, very clean, and quite new. Staff were warm and friendly, and there are lots of restaurants nearby. It’s probably best suited to one person. Two could fit, but it would feel a little cramped. The walls seem thin, so you can hear people in the corridor or other rooms. Only shampoo and soap are in the room; other amenities are available at the self-serve bar beside reception. Parking is a block away, and you can buy a ticket at reception for JPY 1200 per night.

Several years ago, while staying at this accommodation, I noticed that a young female front desk staff member who seemed to be in her twenties spoke condescendingly to guests consistently, except for white tourists and visitors from mainland Japan. If she is still employed there, steps should be taken to make sure this kind of discriminatory behavior doesn’t continue.
