Miyagi Apartment Tomari

There isn't much of a view, but the ocean is a short walk away. It's a park by a ferry port rather than a beach. Family mart and a fresh fish market are nearby too. The apartments, including some airbnb units, are cozy and have what you need. The bilingual host speaks English and Japanese, and was exceptionally kind and hospitable compared with other airbnb stays I've had. Free airport pickup and drop off are offered. I'd definitely recommend checking it out.

I booked six months ahead, then the stay was cancelled just 20 days before I was due to leave. I was told they couldn't host me because of overbooking. When I contacted them, they denied responsibility and said I had cancelled it myself. I sent them the cancellation email before they replied that there had been a booking issue causing a duplicate reservation, apologized, and invited me to book again next time. Even with that email in front of them, they wouldn't acknowledge that they cancelled my booking and gave me only a perfunctory response. My plans were thrown off completely, and I had to scramble for another place in the final days. I strongly advise against booking this accommodation.

The host was polite, friendly, and spoke English. This locally owned guesthouse had a clean room and the essentials, including strong air conditioning, good water pressure, and hot water. Airport transfers are available, and you can borrow the host's car if you arrange it ahead of time. From the fishing port nearby, you can hear the boats' horns, and there's a sunset view in the evening. A convenience store is about 300 meters away, and Kokusai-dori is a pleasant 20-minute walk. It's not right by Kokusai-dori or the monorail, but the location is good value. I'd book again if I return to Okinawa. I hope the owner, who seems to be in his 50s or 60s, is still in business.

Tomari Port, Family Mart, and the tasty Inaka Tomari soki soba place are all walkable, and Kokusai Street is about 2 km away, also close enough to walk. It's quiet at night because the place is away from downtown, though the nearby port can bring some noise early in the morning. I rented a room for three nights and four days in November. The price included rides to and from Naha Airport and a rental car for the first three days, so I thought it was a great deal. For navigation, I think setting Tomari High School should work.
