We came with our family and corgi, and it was great to find one of the few cottages that lets you bring a dog. The interior was stylish and had useful amenities like a coffee set. There was also a sauna, a relaxing way to enjoy the natural setting. The floor was the reason we gave it three stars despite being very satisfied with the cottage. It was extremely slippery, and our dog slid around even while walking normally. Anyone with a corgi or dachshund will know how worrying that is. If they improve the flooring, this would be a five-star stay.

The interior was clean, and the person who replied to my inquiry was very kind. This is a rental lodge, though it isn't well maintained. The stylish kitchen has an induction cooktop that trips the breaker when used, badly enough that the wiring needs work. The water boiler's breaker also has to be switched on by hand. Some bulbs were burned out, and the electric kettle that should have been there was missing. It's shower-only, and the water pressure is weak. I changed the shower head, which was fine since wide, water-saving models are available. At night it's dark around the stairs up to the entrance, so some lighting there would make the place perfect. I'd like to visit again when I'm in Hokkaido.

We booked the largest facility here for 65,000 yen for eight people. It has three bedrooms with two rooms each, a raised three-tatami-mat area, a table for four, a table for six, and possibly eight chairs. There's a barrel sauna available by the hour. The place sits on a slightly raised hill, unlike what the website photos suggest. Flies and other insects were everywhere, so mosquito coils are essential. Forest blocks most of the surrounding view, leaving the starry sky to look at. The sauna fits up to four people and is booked in one-hour slots. You handle everything yourself, from setup to cleanup. It has löyly steam too, which was fantastic. We really missed soup bowls, a rice measuring cup, seasonings, oil, an egg frying pan, toothpicks, mosquito coils, and a cold plunge pool. Salt and black pepper mills were provided.

The pension manager helped us through a frightening situation. My wife became very ill on the second night and was too unwell to move by the next day, but the manager acted quickly and helped get her safely to hospital. As a foreign guest struggling with the language, I was grateful for all the help. His genuine concern and comfort deeply moved my whole family, and my wife is now recovering well. We had booked for a family trip, and although I was a little concerned about the place being pet-friendly, it was perfectly organized and very clean. The bed was especially comfortable, large, and nice. We stayed two nights.
