Shima Onsen Yuzurihaso Hot spring Inn

For the price, the facilities were adequate. I stayed two nights without meals. There are three private open-air baths, but perhaps because it was winter, the water wasn’t quite hot enough. I took a morning soak in the Boten bath, and once I got in, it took some courage to get back out, lol. You can also use the large public bath at the sister property, Luludo, and I was very happy with my morning there on the second day. I wish they’d mentioned ahead of time that the water might be a little cool, though I think it’d be great outside winter. It’s a good inn overall, especially for people looking to relax.

The staff are wonderful and attentive, and the place feels homey without being too familiar. Everything is well organized. This is a small inn that I’d recommend if you want to relax. It has three free private open-air baths, each a different size. There’s no souvenir corner, but they do sell cup ramen, snacks, and other things to tide you over. I gave the rooms four stars because the pillows were too hard. It would’ve been nice to have rental pillows as another option.

The rooms are standard Japanese style, and breakfast is served in the building across from them. There are three private baths, and you can use them freely with a key. None is especially large, but each has its own theme, which makes trying them fun. Just a short walk away, there’s also a spot where you can drink the hot spring water.

The hotel doesn’t have a restaurant, though you can book a table at the place across the street. Since we were there on the first day of a long weekend and thought it might be busy, we picked up prepared food and alcohol at a supermarket in Nakanojo and brought them along. The lobby has a shared fridge and microwave, so we could chill our drinks and warm our snacks. We especially liked being able to eat at a table next to the lobby and enjoy the view while having a little change of pace. They kindly lent us glasses too, which made for a lovely dinner. We took all our rubbish with us and left no trace behind. We stayed over a three-day weekend and worried there might be a wait for the three private baths, but we were able to use them easily in the evening and again in the morning. The baths were beautiful, and we had a wonderfully relaxing time. It was quiet at night, and we slept really well. Thank you for the kind hospitality.
