Ocean Hills Kouri

I only had one night here on the last day of a work trip, but I’d love to come back with more people and stay longer. The room has plenty of space to unwind, unlike a business hotel, and I lost track of time watching the sunset from the balcony. The ocean view stretches across the room through the floor-to-ceiling windows. There’s a microwave, rice cooker, and stovetop too, which seems handy for a longer stay.

Eating and having a drink on the balcony made me happy, and the kitchen was easy to use. The room was clean, the view was spectacular, and the location worked perfectly for us. For groceries, Kanehide, A-Coop, and Big in Motobu have what you need. They don’t seem to rent barbecue sets, so bring your own hot plate if you want one. I’ve decided this is where I’ll stay next time I’m in Okinawa. I almost hate to tell too many people about it!

You’ll want to plan ahead for food. There aren’t any convenience stores on the island, so shopping takes about 10-15 minutes, or you can look up restaurants and eateries that will be open. The room has a TV, microwave, bathroom, rice cooker, gas stove, and dishes, so self-catering is possible. It was very clean, and the staff were kind. The inn sits high up, nearly as high as Kouri Island Ocean Tower, with Kouri Bridge and the wide ocean visible on either side from the room, weather permitting. I’d like to visit again.

I was happy to have the Ryukyu glasses, microwave, and washing machine there, and the view was so good I could relax and enjoy it any time. Getting a carry-on up the spiral stairs to the room is awkward, so watch out for that. There were various things left near the entrance, apparently because family members live on the first floor, and it didn’t look very nice.
