There aren't many dinner choices nearby, and the island has no convenience store, so keep that in mind. The road up to the room is very steep, though I found it safe enough to walk. The room is spacious and has a balcony, and the owner is kind and speaks English. They offer homemade breakfast too. For the price, getting a jacuzzi with a view of Kouri bridge is great value.

From the room, the view during the day was breathtaking, and at night we could watch the stars and fireworks from the roof. Breakfast was fantastic. I especially recommend the Japanese option: the Onigiri were delicious, and the miso soup was a lovely way to start the morning. My brother and I had a great time here. The host is warm and welcoming, and gave us lots of helpful suggestions for places to eat and sights to see. We'll definitely come back!

The whole island gets dark after sunset, which makes the night sky and shooting stars lovely to see. For your first drive up, I'd suggest arriving in daylight so you can see the way. The road to the hotel is steep, but manageable. Tom is the best. If he offers to cook dinner or breakfast, say yes. Most places on Kouri Island close very early. I'd happily stay here again, and hope to do so soon.

The road to the place is narrow, steep, and a little tricky to find. Drive carefully, since you could scrape the underside of your car. The owner was helpful and kind. Because I was staying longer, he offered to do my laundry for free if I needed it. The rooftop is open to guests, and you can eat up there while looking out at Kouri Bridge, the beach, sunrise and sunset, or the stars. It's an Airbnb-style hostel, with a cosy, clean room and basic amenities, plus a shower, bathtub, and mini bar for chilling drinks. Meals can be ordered to the room in advance for an extra charge. I requested breakfast twice. It was nicely presented, and I ate it on the room veranda.
