The rooms are spacious, and there's a microwave and vending machine by the lift lobby in the annex. Breakfast also has a budget coffee-and-pastry takeaway set. I’m not sure why we’re always put in the annex when the main building seems to have guest rooms too. It’s an old but functional budget hotel close to the station, and the convenience makes up for the dated rooms. Just don’t expect luxury for the price.

We didn't even unpack. After finding used slippers under the bed and a really filthy bathroom, we left within about five minutes to find another hotel. The hallway looked like it belonged in a horror movie, and the room's furniture was old. There was a very large group staying there when we arrived, which was fine on its own, but the room was too gross for us to stay.

The bathroom ventilation was so poor that the whole room got oppressively stuffy after a shower. The beds were small and uncomfortable, with just one pillow each. Although we booked months ahead, we ended up in a small annex room that you can only reach by taking an elevator to the third floor. There were only two outlets for three of us to charge our phones, watches, and laptops. The mirror's silver was peeling, the fan was noisy, and the TV was small. At least the station is close, with lots of shopping and restaurants nearby.

The location is excellent, very close to what’s probably the last station before Narita Airport, and the room was more spacious than the other hotel rooms we stayed in during our trip. Still, we moved out and booked somewhere else because the stay felt so unpleasant. The room seemed old and worn throughout: yellowed taps and tub, visible mold in several corners, a prehistoric TV, and a rough, moldy cushioned chair. The bed seemed like the only updated item, but even it felt dated and used. There was no hot water, bidet, or heated toilet seat. The area felt old too, and I didn’t feel safe seeing men smoking outside the hotel’s back door, where there were no locks or guards and anyone could come in. Maybe other rooms are better, but ours felt like an old, rugged motel unit that someone had tried to maintain. I wouldn’t have wanted this to be our last impression of Japan.
