We spent a weekend here for two nights. The house was new and clean, but the kitchen was missing a lot of basic things for cooking and eating: no knives or coffee spoons, barely enough forks, glasses, and plates, no sink net, and no rubbish bags. There was no cleaning equipment in the bathroom either. You could call staff for things, but it took around 40 minutes for someone to arrive. They should fully equip the houses or get the essentials to guests quickly. Check-in also had a very long queue.

The cottage was in a cozy spot up on the hill, a bit of a distance from reception. It worked out fine since we weren’t having breakfast or dinner there. If you plan to use the hot spring and other facilities, though, a cottage closer to reception is probably a better choice. It’s dog friendly, with a great dog run that’s free for guests staying there.

We were in Zone A, where the room felt old and dusty. The hair dryer didn’t work, and the bedroom heater smelled like something was burning, so we had to switch it off. Everything else was fine for me, but it was still a bit disappointing.

After a day at Nasu highland park, I had a lovely time playing with my granddaughter in the garden in front of the rental villa, using a water gun.

The cottages are a great place to stay. My only complaint is that you pay extra for everything outside the room, including the ping pong tables and Frisby golf. Those activities feel like they should be included, though fees like that are expected in Japan.
