Sumiyoshi Village Tanegashima

I’ve been staying here for a longer visit to Tanegashima. The container-style room has what you need for a stay without meals, and the amenities are well stocked, so I’ve been comfortable. The sea is right nearby, and hearing the waves so clearly made my work trip feel like a break from everyday life. There’s a microwave and light snacks available too, though they aren’t in the room, so I haven’t felt short of anything. The staff have been very kind and helpful throughout my stay.

On our summer 2025 family trip, we barely managed to find a room here after striking out elsewhere. We’ve been visiting Tanegashima as a family for about ten years, roughly every 2-3 years. The father and son had one building, and the mother and daughter another. Having a women-only section was a relief. The facility was new and comfortable, and the sunset view was amazing.

I spent about two weeks here for work. At first I wasn’t sure what to do, but the inn staff kindly showed me around. Meals were tasty and reasonably priced, and I had a great time exploring the rocks, fishing, and beachcombing. It’s somewhere I’d like to visit again.

I’m on day eight of a multi-night work trip. The room’s small, but it’s fine for sleeping, and the staff have been friendly. BBQ facilities were provided free, which was great. It’s been windy, but the location is amazing. I’d highly recommend this hotel!
