The shared hallway and bathroom are old and not as clean, though I spent less than ten minutes there, so it didn't bother me much. The rest of the capsule hotel was among the top 20% I've stayed in for cleanliness, space, comfort and digital connectivity, with internet and four power outlets. The attached public onsen is free for hotel guests, great value, and better than I expected. The water was good and the temperature felt just right for Okinawa's hot climate, not too hot. The sauna was above average. The price may seem high for a capsule hotel, but given the location I think the criticism is unfair. It's still the cheapest option on the island, and people should appreciate that there's a budget capsule hotel at all. I also found the male staff member hospitable and proactive about explaining how to see the rocket launch. I'd already visited the tourist information center, but the hotel staff knew more and gave me confidence the bus really existed.

I missed my taxi late at night and didn't know what to do, but they found room for me in a capsule at short notice. There isn't much space for large bags, though there are private lockers and plenty of amenities. I appreciated that the hot springs open at 6:00 AM. Nishinoomote Port is only a few minutes away on foot, and the Chuo Main Line bus stop is a minute or two away. Next time I'll book ahead and stay in the main building. A note on taxis: Hayashi Taxi apparently only operates on the island until 1:00 AM. Ichimaru Taxi apparently runs until 1:00 AM on Fridays and Saturdays, or possibly 2:00 AM then, but I couldn't confirm that. Near the end of the day I asked a driver for a long-distance trip; he checked with me and declined. There are only a few taxis available, so keep that in mind.

I'm a smoker, and this hotel is inconvenient for people like me. Even now, places such as Mankitsu have smoking rooms. I'd definitely suggest they consider adding one.

The hot springs feel great, and getting access to them makes the price worthwhile. I paid 4,400 yen per night for the capsule hotel in June 2024, with no meals included. It was cheap, clean and nice, and I stayed for two nights. Search YouTube for “Namiyoshi Channel Tanegashima Araki Hotel” to see a video showing what the hotel is like. Check it out 😆

The large hot spring bath is worth recommending. I stayed overnight and arrived during the day. They told me I could use the hot spring whenever I liked, so I went straight in and really enjoyed it. The problem came when I wanted another bath that night. I had no towel, so I went to the front desk, where they said there was only one towel per room. I was confused because I haven't run into that at other hotels. I paid over 10,000 yen for a room that felt like one of those old single rooms, and they wouldn't lend me a towel. I don't blame the money-minded management, but guests shouldn't be made to feel uncomfortable. I washed the towels before using them♪
