I only called because I wanted to use self check-in, but neither of the two receptionists could speak Japanese. They kept passing the phone back and forth. They said they'd call me back, but never did. I also wasn't told that self check-in was only available until 21:00. They should have explained the rules on the call, but the staff were unprofessional and unable to communicate, so I wouldn't book here. The person I spoke with on LINE was rude too, and kept telling me to read the rules. They showed no understanding. I'll do everything I can unless they return my money. This wasn't my fault: the receptionist said they'd call, then didn't. I felt relieved at first because I thought it was all sorted, since they promised to call, and assumed check-in was possible at any time.

Before checking in, you need to go to the fishing supply store next door to meet the host. The guesthouse has parking behind the house for 1000 yen a night, plus two shared bathrooms and two shared showers, one of each per floor. The host was super cool, and although communication was a little difficult because their English was basic, everything went fine.

I didn't feel this was a good place to stay, and worried it would spoil what should have been an enjoyable trip. I definitely didn't want to return. I knew there was a cancellation policy because the number of people on the reservation had suddenly increased, but my request to cancel for free was rejected straight away. Since it was the middle of the night, I called the next morning. They just kept repeating that the policy meant they couldn't help and wouldn't listen to me.

The shower and bathroom were clean and easy to use. The owner was very polite and explained everything to me right away. I'll definitely come back when I'm in Numazu again!

The older man at reception had a really bad attitude. If you work with customers, you should know how to use respectful language and drop that overbearing manner. You're older, so you'd understand that, right?
