We stayed here for the fireworks in Ohno Town and Motosu City. Personally, I’d rate it five stars, and I’d stay again if my partner was okay with it. From her point of view, there was no hairdryer, the mirror was in an awkward spot, and the room was too dark and too small. I did ask her beforehand if Komatsuya would be okay, and she had looked it up and said yes. Then she changed her mind, and I lost the rock-paper-scissors game. I’m not complaining, though, this is just how it went.

The building is old, and the wallpaper is damaged, though the place seems clean. It’s convenient for a longer stay, with a large public bath, massage chairs, a microwave, and shops and restaurants nearby. Staff were polite, and I had a pleasant stay. Breakfast is simple, but the hot dishes made with local ingredients were comforting. A handy base for sightseeing or business in Ono Town.

We came on a family trip and found it quiet and pleasant. There’s a regular coin laundry on the first floor, plus a coffee shop where customers start lining up around 8 a.m. Skipping breakfast is fine. For dinner, there’s a Taiwanese restaurant just a 30-second walk away.

I had booked to stay here again, but changed my mind after this business trip. There weren’t many nearby places to choose from, so I took a chance despite the low reviews, and it was a rough stay. When I turned on the shower, water shot out like a fountain from its base, and the wall by the bedside outlet was badly damaged. Other guests at the same time also described unpleasant problems: hot water suddenly coming from the shower, a broken hairdryer that tangled and burned someone’s hair, and miso soup spilled on a guest at breakfast with staff leaving without wiping it up. There were kind staff members too, and I hope they can work hard to improve things.

It feels old throughout, including the worn rooms, and it won’t suit anyone looking for a stylish place. Wi-Fi is available. There’s a Taiwanese restaurant on the same premises, so finding food and a drink is easy. Breakfast is simple, but I like the homemade umeboshi, with their old-fashioned salty, sour taste. Gifu City and Ogaki City are only about 30 minutes away, so I’m not sure how much demand there is for this hotel.
