Okayama Square Hotel

One English-speaking staff member was kind and helpful, but that was the bright spot. The hotel was in awful shape, with dust and hair across the carpet and stains on the walls. Worst of all, the mattress dipped in the middle, and I spent the whole night itching and scratching. I took photos to show the condition. This may have been the worst hotel I've stayed in.

I left feeling unsettled the entire time. The interior felt uncomfortable, cleaning and upkeep seemed inadequate, and the staff were inconsistent and short on basic customer service. One older male employee repeatedly walked around talking to himself, was rude to guests, barely responded when addressed, and behaved in a way that made his staring feel very strange. I couldn't relax or feel secure during my stay. It seemed like staff training and management weren't working properly. For what it cost, the stay wasn't worth it at all. I strongly wouldn't recommend it and won't return.

There was a free drink bar and a shampoo bar, which were nice extras. The room was compact, but the bed was roomier than I expected, and I had a fridge, little desk, and fast Wi-Fi, so working was easy. It had what I needed and felt just right as a place to sleep.

The only things I liked were that the shower temperature was easy to adjust and I could watch YouTube. I was there on a business trip, in the main building rather than the annex, and wouldn't stay again for personal travel. The old chairs had ripped leather and the walls were yellowed, which I put up with, though I wish they had been replaced. The bigger issue was cleanliness. The air conditioner started making a strange noise as soon as I switched it on, and when I looked closer it was filthy. There was a moldy smell too, and I was worried I might get sick. Since I get hot easily, I had to run it while sleeping, and a mask was essential. I regret not paying more for another hotel.
