The Breakfast Hotel Port Ishigakijima

The rooms matched their description, and the smoothies they kindly offered were a nice touch even though we hadn't booked breakfast. The beds were a little too soft and springy for me, but fine for a few days. It's a really nice, good-value hotel, a little away from the city center but still close enough to get around easily.

The room wasn't cleaned during our stay, and when we asked for two extra towels, they wouldn't provide them. We also woke up every morning to the vacuum outside our door. The A/C leaked onto the bed and floor, the bed was stiff and uncomfortable, and the small blanket wasn't enough. They refused an extra one, even though they'd replaced our wet blanket the night before. There was construction at the hotel that we hadn't been told about. We were there for four nights, and it was a really bad experience.

A really good spot near the town centre. Our twin condominium was compact but had what we needed, and the washing machine came in handy. It had cooking facilities, though we did miss having a knife. The room had a bit of a ship-like feel. Breakfast was ¥20 per person and well worth it, with loads of soba, sushi, and local beef to try. It felt like a taste of the whole island. There was unlimited coffee, plus drinks in the evening. Highly recommended.

The rooms are a decent size, and parking is available, though the lot can fill up at night. There’s a free drinks window in the afternoon, with Orion beer on tap. Breakfast is a real highlight, with lots of different things to try. You also get a coupon that works at this hotel or its sister property, Breakfast Hotel Marche, just a few minutes’ walk away. Their breakfast is different and just as good.
