The place is a little gem, with a great kitchen and decor, free coffee and tea, and a very secure feel. The price is a bit higher than other guesthouses I’ve stayed at, but I got my own lockable room, which was unusual and nice. There’s a bunk bed, though I had it to myself. If I could have wished my sister there for the night, we’d have had a blast. After going through several locked doors, I found I had the whole place to myself, though that wall of mirrors did make me feel like I wasn’t alone. It’s a bit of a walk from the station, but I walked because I don’t like buses. Buses do run, and the staff were super helpful at check-in, giving me maps and information pamphlets for the area. It’s on a great little shopping street, near a large shrine and the ropeway station. There are lots of little shrines and temples nearby, and the area has a great atmosphere.

A lovely hostel with a really thoughtful setup. It was super clean, check-in was friendly, and the facilities went above and beyond. One of the best hostels I’ve stayed in!

The location is right in the middle of the tourist area, perfect for sightseeing in Omihachiman. Self-service is free, and you can cook in the kitchen. The washing machine and detergent are free to use, while evening showers need to be reserved. Vehicles have to use the nearby parking lot, and making multiple trips in a day costs an extra 400 yen. A couple of downsides: some people run the washing machine even at midnight, and some leave their dishes unwashed after using the kitchen.

The location is great, and the self-check-in made it convenient to come and go without leaving a key. My room and the kitchen were clean, and the beds were incredibly comfortable. The other residents were considerate, so I had a relaxing stay.
