Okinawa Kariyushi Beach Resort Ocean Spa

The room was pleasant, with a lovely ocean view from the balcony. The gym was just average, while the indoor pool was good in autumn. The breakfast and dinner buffets were a little above average, which seemed about right for the price.

The building's a little dated, but the staff are wonderful and there’s loads to do, with great facilities. My favorite part was the meat buffet served BBQ-style while a live Okinawan band played. They were fantastic. I also loved the 25-meter indoor training pool. We'll definitely come back! 🌺🔥

We stayed for three nights last weekend with our baby, and the resort was really good value. The staff were friendly, the food was so good, and it was very child-friendly. Our room had an unbelievable view that we won't forget. The room itself felt a little old and smelled of mildew, so I took off a star for that. We had to build our own barrier at the end of the bed to stop the baby from falling. I hope the hotel might offer reasonably priced tatami rooms for families with babies who have outgrown the cot.

I was here when the hotel was built in the mid-80s, and after nearly 25 years living in Japan and staying in many hotels, I don't see why people say this one needs renovation. I've seen places that clearly did, but this one has been updated and kept modern. Our room was perfect, the food amazing, the staff very friendly, and the amenities above average. It's very family-friendly, so there are lots of children having fun in the pool. But this is Japan, and the children are well behaved. A bus runs to the beach every 15 minutes, though we took the easy, pleasant walk instead. The sunset from our room was second to none. Spend an extra 20 bucks for an ocean-view tower room and you won't be disappointed. This is easily a 4-star hotel or higher, and I'd happily bring my nieces and nephews for a great family stay.
