Sunset Beach House

We had an amazing five days at Sunset Beach House. You can get to the beach from the hotel, and our room was comfortable and clean. The shared kitchen and lounge are charming, with free coffee and a few things for sale. The staff were helpful, including the cat, dog, fish and parakeet. Thanks again, I'll definitely be back.

The common area was a cozy spot for meals and conversation, and the guesthouse has a fully equipped kitchen for cooking, which helps since dinner choices nearby are limited at night. Check-in was easy and the amenities were good. I loved the peaceful sea view and relaxing atmosphere, and the location works well for driving to scenic spots and beach activities. I'd happily return for another restful stay. Missing Vanilla and Woofy already =)

What stands out most is how the management handled a problem. We arrived on a rainy night, and my first impression was only so-so for a place with such strong reviews. Compared with more modern renovated stays, the lack of a bidet, separate tub and toilet, and storage took some getting used to. Then the boiler stopped working, and my group kept waking me in the middle of the night to ask when we'd have hot water. I thought I'd made a poor choice. In the morning, someone from our party spoke with a staff member who was already looking into it. That person later told us it had been fixed, and two other team members checked in with different people in our group to apologize. We eventually confirmed the hot water was back. When we returned later, management approached us. The proprietor took responsibility without us asking and made a professional, very generous goodwill gesture that was far beyond what we'd expected. That kind of accountability and integrity is rare. The rooms were cozy and inviting despite the dated amenities, and sleeping on tatami was a fun experience for the family. The surroundings are lovely too. Even exhausted, my family got up at 6 a.m. to walk along the beach, see sea creatures and shells, and enjoy the scenery. It's gorgeous, and would have been even more fun to relax in with better weather. At checkout, a team member noticed a flower in one family member's hair and went out of her way to give fresh flowers to her and the rest of the group. Everyone was grinning, and the frustration from the night before had almost completely faded.

The owners were so friendly and welcoming, and we loved the animals. The room felt a little old, but it was comfortable and cozy. With the waves outside and such a laid-back atmosphere, I only wish we could've stayed longer.
