There are lots of convenience stores and vending machines near Shin Osaka station, and the facility was great. My Airbnb room was clean but tiny, and the host had kindly left refreshments. The only drawback was laundry, though there’s a coin laundry about a two-minute walk away.

It’s very close to Shin Osaka station, which is the one real plus. I booked through Airbnb and found there were a lot of restrictions.

The desk clerks can be really grumpy, but the location and views are great, and Airbnb prices are good.

People often stop on the overpass to photograph the JR conventional lines, and it’s become a popular spot for train fans with phones and cameras. Lately, perhaps because of inbound tourism, you’ll also see foreigners pulling wheeled suitcases along there. The building is known for its giant Daikin Pichon-kun. Police officers are often around the nearby overpass. Under it there’s a crosswalk with the much-discussed speed traps that were recently installed to stop pedestrians crossing the street.
