I went for the day, and the place was much cleaner and more modern inside than its exterior suggests. The indoor and outdoor baths are connected beyond the changing room, and their water looks a little cloudy and green. The outdoor bath's incoming water had a great oily, sulfur smell that brought Kunimi hot spring in Iwate prefecture to mind. The indoor one had a faint oily scent too. It’s a shame the water is circulated and treated with chlorine. Without that, this could be one of Naruko's best spots.
