I liked the practical extras here, especially the electric bike rentals and beach gear for getting around the island. They also run a stargazing activity, but I didn't know about it in time to book. The sky was still visible from near the guesthouse. Breakfast came with my plan and was decent, and there's dinner and a bar from 5 to 9 p.m. Since nearby dinner choices are limited, that service is useful, though I ate elsewhere. Getting around is the biggest difficulty. Island buses mostly stop around 5-6 p.m., so seeing sunsets or night views elsewhere is awkward. With few restaurants nearby, you have to come back early to eat or have a car. As a solo traveler who usually doesn't rent one, I found that a real drawback for a capsule-style stay. A paid shuttle, perhaps a late pickup from a major town, could help and might be profitable. Guest activities could also make it easier for people to connect. I slept in a capsule room on my own trip, and my roommates were quiet all night. The experience does depend on who shares the room. I may have been the noisy one, coming and going late to photograph stars. The shared bathrooms and common areas are what you'd expect from a hostel, though they felt a bit dated, especially the bathrooms.

The capsule was clean, and the staff were really friendly. Still, I wouldn't choose the shower here when there are better nearby onsen or sento. I also felt uncomfortable when I couldn't eat food I'd brought in, even after buying a drink and something to eat at their restaurant. They only let me eat it in the workspace. The location is inconvenient, so I'd suggest staying around Motomachi instead. I'd choose somewhere else if I could. This would be my last choice.

The capsules were comfortable and the place seemed clean. Making up the bedding yourself was a bit hard for me. Nothing fancy, but it works if you're looking for a cheaper stay.

The young male staff member gave excellent service and made the stay pleasant. The meals were good, too. Dinner was a course featuring Oshima Island ingredients, with sashimi appetizers, fish, meat, and dessert, and staff explained the ingredients in detail. Breakfast had rice, miso soup, and five side dishes. I booked the dorm with both meals, and the capsule-style setup was comfortable. Bathing is arranged in 15-minute slots, but you can take several in a row when they're available, and the bath is open all day and night. The stairs to the shared toilets and bath are steep, so I wouldn't recommend this for older people. There aren't any TVs in the facility. It would be nice to have one in the playroom at least. Parking costs 1,000 yen, which seems unbelievably expensive for a remote island. I didn't want to pay that for one night, so I parked at Okada Port, a bit of a walk away.

We were three friends traveling together, and they kindly brought our food to the room when we specially asked. The dishes were varied and delicious, more than we expected for our budget. The rooms and bathrooms also looked very well cared for. The staff put a lot into their hospitality, and we could really feel the owner's affection for Oshima Island. It seems like a good place for friends who want to chat casually, as well as for solo travelers. Thanks so much.
