It’s about a 15-minute drive from town, tucked away in a quiet corner at the end of the road. The place feels cozy, like a log cabin, with a lovely atmosphere. After a long day out, I liked sitting on the veranda in the late afternoon, listening to the birds and crickets. The name makes you expect more of a youth hostel, but there wasn’t much “youth” about it, which I saw as a plus. The couple who run it are very nice and friendly. We didn’t eat there, though the food looked and smelled quite good.

Sitting by the fire in the spacious living room was my favorite, such a relaxing spot. The house itself is idyllic and impeccably clean, and the landlady is welcoming, helpful, and kind. You can order breakfast and dinner there too, and I highly recommend both. It’s a hidden gem for an authentic Japanese homestay feel. I stayed two nights and wished I could have stayed longer. Hopefully I’ll be back.

We loved our stay in this beautiful, cozy cottage surrounded by nature. The living room fireplace looks like it belongs in a Ghibli movie. The staff welcomed us with tea and snacks, and were incredibly kind. They made our trip through eastern Hokkaido even more special, and we’d love to come back.

It felt less like an inn and more like staying in someone’s home, and the warm, loving atmosphere made a difference. The owners were incredibly kind and cooked delicious food. Since I was hitchhiking, they helped however they could and sent me off with a mix of local snacks. I stayed just two nights, but felt like part of the family. So thoughtful!

A lovely couple runs this warm, comfortable place. Our family of four shared a room that was cozy and adorable. The wood-burning stove in the living room was our favorite part. The bathrooms were very clean, and there was lots of information about the famous onsens nearby.
