The ryokan was clean and lovely, and staying there left us feeling peaceful. We found it after getting separated on our bike ride from Fukuoka to Furuyu. In 2015, while cycling in Japan, I met an American man named noble. I asked local residents if they had seen him riding toward Furuyu village. Though they could barely understand me, they called around to people in the village and eventually found him by the riverside. We were able to reunite, and someone gave us a very good introduction to the ryokan at a reasonable price.

The room's view of the river and cherry blossoms has really stayed with me. I also loved the lukewarm hot spring and the staff's hospitality. The food was carefully prepared, delicious, and served in generous portions. It was an easy five-star stay, and I'd like to come back and relax again.

We came during the Obon holiday as a family of 13 to celebrate my mother's birthday. The staff were kind and courteous, and the calm view of the mountains and river from our room was so soothing. There was a wide range of dishes, all with gentle flavors that we really enjoyed. We'll stay here again next time we visit our hometown.

The bath is fairly small, probably comfortable for about three people. I had it to myself the whole time, so space wasn't an issue, though it might feel tight when it's busier. The water is heated to a comfortable temperature of around 41°C, which still lets you enjoy that smooth, highly alkaline Furuyu water. I wish they'd kept half the bath at the source temperature of 36°C. The source water feels divine, and it's a shame that most Furuyu baths, including Chikumasou, heat it. Personally, I think the nearby Kumanogawa Bath is fine, and with the recent interest in lukewarm water, I wish they'd offer the unheated option just in summer. I came to use the Tsururei hot spring, Fuji Town's second hot spring. The main bathhouse's day-use hours had already ended, so I went to Chikumasou instead. I forgot to check the hair dryer. I think the shampoo was POLA Shower Break, with conditioner provided separately. Hot spring details: Alkaline simple spring, hypotonic and medium hot spring. Source temperature 36°C, pH 9.28, dissolved substances 0.192 g/kg. Flow rate and flow method unknown. Heated, not diluted with added water, circulated, and sterilized. Facility details as of June 2025 for day visits: ¥700, cash only, or ¥350 for ages 3 through sixth grade. Open 10:00-19:00. Shampoo and related items are available, conditioner sold separately. No open-air bath, sauna, or cold bath. Hair dryer not confirmed.

April 2024: The tableware and menu change each time. I forgot to photograph the meat this visit. 💦 Thanks again for another lovely stay. April 2023: Another delicious meal. I enjoyed it again. September 2022: I'd already visited in April 2022, and I've lost count of how many stays I've had. The distance is just right, the room tea is delicious, and I appreciate getting a pitcher of water after dinner. The bath is lukewarm and easy to relax in. The dinner is the best part, with such careful cooking. I used to manage the luxury plan easily, but lately I eat less, so now I choose the omakase plan (lol). It's still very satisfying, and my family loves dinner here too. The river's sound is soothing as well. The photos are from this visit and earlier posts.
