The restaurant here is really good. I tried Japanese koi sashimi for the first time, and it was delicious. The onsen water was good quality despite being so hot. It's the second hottest onsen I've been in. Luckily, there's a hose attached to a spigot, so you can add cold water to the bath. Probably best in winter.

November 2025 information: Takaya Onsen ♨️ A quick soak costs ¥400. It's open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM. I visited a few times several years ago, but it was closed then. After seeing a post that it had reopened, I came back for a bath. It was quiet, and the water was slightly lukewarm, so I could relax and enjoy the hot spring. 😊 Parking, rinse-in shampoo, body soap, a hair dryer, and returnable ¥100 coin lockers are available.

I went in to wash off the sweat and, since it was a weekday at 3 PM, ended up having the place to myself. Rinse-in shampoo, body soap, a hairdryer, and coin lockers were available. You pay at the reception building across the road before going through the curtained entrance to the bath. The water felt a little lukewarm to me; I'd have preferred it hotter. Also, after the shower stopped, pressing the button again only released water briefly.

The atmosphere was great, and the place is really stylish, just as other people have mentioned. I came for a day trip to the hot springs. They provide shampoo and body soap, but both had a strong floral scent. I wish I'd brought my own.

The parking lot has no marked spaces, so I parked wherever I found room. The location is a little hard to find. You pay at the main house first, then head to the detached hot spring. The toilets are in another building and felt a little scary. The bath itself isn't very large, with about four washing stations. The water is a slightly hot, clear, colorless cold mineral spring containing iodine and sodium chloride. I went in the afternoon on the middle day of a three-day weekend, and nobody else was there, so we had it to ourselves. I only used the place as a drop-in bath, so I can't say anything about the guest rooms. I'll give it an average rating.
