Erry's Guesthouse Sapporo

Our first visit to Japan and Sapporo turned into a wonderful stay. Mrs Kayoka San was so kind and friendly.

The guesthouse felt like home as soon as I walked through the front door. It’s a lovely detached house, with the owner living in the same building. I was a little nervous at first, since this was my first trip overseas, but I’d chosen this place after researching local stays because I wanted to experience everyday life as well as go sightseeing. I started out in a single room. There was plenty of space to open both my large and small suitcases, and the room was clean and comfortable. They also stored my luggage while I went to eastern Hokkaido, which helped a lot. After I returned to Sapporo, I moved to a double room with a small kitchen and everything I needed to cook. I enjoyed making Hokkaido asparagus there. The owner was very kind at check-in, showing me the room and telling me about nearby shops. My Japanese isn’t very fluent, but the staff listened to my concerns and treated me courteously. I was grateful for the conversations, and for learning about local people’s ways of thinking and getting local information. The location made sightseeing and getting around Sapporo convenient. There are still lots of places in Hokkaido I haven’t seen, and I’d definitely stay here again the next time I visit. Thanks for a wonderful stay.
