The staff were polite and helped me at check-in. I’d been told check-in was at 3 p.m. and checkout at 10 a.m., so I expected to wait when I arrived around 2:30. A little later, though, they asked for my passport and let me into the room by 2:35. That left me unsure what the official check-in and checkout times actually were. The hotel is very convenient for Higashi Sapporo Station, less than a minute away. Room space was acceptable, and the mattress and pillows were comfortable. The washroom had an older toilet, shower, sink, and bathtub, but it was poorly ventilated, damp, and smelled unpleasant. The tub wasn’t very clean either. There was no air conditioning, just a heater, ventilation box, and the option to open a window. As a first-time visitor to Japan, I had trouble figuring out the room temperature and ventilation and had to use ChatGPT. Clear instructions in the room would have helped. Checkout was easy, just drop the room key in a box at the registration counter. I’d rate the stay 2.5 out of 5.

Getting around was easy, with public transport nearby and the subway making many tourist spots simple to reach. There’s also a shopping center close by and plenty of good places to eat.

The automatic check-in can be a hassle: when booking from overseas, it may not find your name. Apart from that, Garden stay is clean, and my room felt spacious for the price. It’s right beside higashi sapporo station, which is a very convenient location. There’s also coin laundry and a sauna for both women and men.

The automated check-in has English service, and getting here is simple since the hotel is right across from the subway station. My bathroom had a slight cigarette smell, though I don’t think that’s usual. The manager was very apologetic. There’s also a sauna in the hotel that you can book, but I didn’t get to try it.

The parking situation was the main drawback: spaces are limited, and it costs ¥1,000 a night. If you get back late, there may be no spot left. You can use the Aeon parking lot or look for cheaper options a few minutes away on foot. As for the staff, the male receptionist seemed a little stern, while the women were very friendly. Overall, an average hotel.
