The view at night was the main reason I stayed, and it’s unusual to find a love hotel in Sapporo with a view this good. The place is a bit dated, but that gave it an atmosphere that stuck with me, and the SM room felt authentically designed. It may not suit someone looking for the cleanliness of a modern hotel, but if individuality matters to you, I think it’s a good option.

I tried to reach the front desk on the room phone to pay, but nobody answered. I went there myself and also called the number posted on the door, with no response either. I ended up consulting the police and leaving the money. I wish someone were always on duty. It was disappointing.

I was really looking forward to staying at a hotel for the first time in a long while, so this was a huge letdown. The room was nowhere near worth more than 10,000 yen for one night. I checked the official website because the prices seemed to vary a lot. It showed 7800 yen, but I was charged 11500 yen, and the front desk confirmed that amount. It felt like a shocking price scam. For that price I expected a well-equipped room, but the fridge and freezer were almost empty, and there wasn’t enough storage for all the outside food I’d brought. There were no catalogs or service information for rentals, and I couldn’t work out how to use the TV. In the cupboard beneath it, I found a used stick vibrator and batteries. The electric kettle was broken and couldn’t boil water. The payment machine took 1000 yen bills only, and there should have been a notice that new bills weren’t accepted either. The hygiene was awful too. There was hair tangled in the bathroom showerhead, the cups were so dirty I didn’t want to use them, and every parking spot was practically a garbage dump. I’ve never before thought, “Wow, there’s such a terrible hotel in Sapporo.”

I booked this hotel at short notice for a trip. When I drove in, I saw a pile of garbage in the garage. Even if the room nearby wasn’t in use, leaving rubbish there was unsanitary. The price was the other shock. Small print below the room panel said 11,000 yen for Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, easy to miss. The website showed 6,400 yen, but after I went into the room and checked with the front desk, they said 11,000 yen was correct. The room smelled bad, with dust and rice grains on the floor and insects coming out. The cupboard in the TV stand held dusty, unused hotel items. For more than 10,000 yen a night, what do they think of their customers? You could potentially get two nights at a hotel in the city for 10,000 yen. The front desk were unhelpful. They hung up while I was on the phone and didn’t know how to take a credit card payment. I wondered how they were still in business. I’ve seen similar online reviews and no sign of improvement, so I suspect their responses are just profuse apologies. I hesitated to post this, but couldn’t accept the experience. I’ll never go back.
