JR East Hotel Mets Premier Sapporo

The staff answered questions quickly and were attentive without hovering, and the housekeeping team did a great job during our one-week stay. I appreciated that we could choose whether to get full room make-up, including vacuuming. The carpet gets dusty and fluffy easily, though, and that’s bad for someone like me with a dust allergy. I wish vacuuming were a separate option, since I didn’t need the sheets changed every day. To get vacuuming, I had to choose the full room make-up with sheet changes, and I felt I was creating extra work for the housekeepers. We had a Premium Twin Room, but there was barely enough walking space, like in some Tokyo hotels, and not enough room to open even a medium suitcase. I don’t understand why they put two chairs and two tables in such a small room, and the massive dyson fan took up space too. The location is very convenient, right next to Sapporo stationand with 4x convenient stores nearby. The hotel gives out good amenities, including Sekkisei facial lotion and cleanser and a LABEAUNA facial mask, which earns another +1 star. They use a Dyson hair dryer. I was excited at first, but it made a sharp loud noise and barely dried my hair. I spent 30min drying it each night and it was still damp. My Panasonic hair dryer at home gets it dry in 5min. There are three front loader washer/dryer machines on level 2 for about 200 rooms, and you shouldn’t expect to use one. Each cycle is 80 to 120min. We tried at 6am and found them all taken, then tried different times at night, as late as 11.30pm, and still couldn’t wash anything. I ended up hand washing all my clothes. Breakfast food is basic but okay. The restaurant is dusty too. I looked up and saw dust on the ceiling and wiring. I gave 4 stars for the good staff and housekeeping. I might stay again, but not with breakfast and not for 7 nights.

The area felt safe for solo travel, with well lit streets that were easy to navigate, and there was very little street noise. The hotel is an easy walk from Sapporo station and several malls. Rooms are a good size and the beds are larger than standard, though luggage can make things feel cramped. The bathroom has a spacious dry/wet area. There’s coin laundry and breakfast from 6am-10am. I’d recommend staying here.

The kids’ amenities set was much appreciated, and if I visit Sapporo again, I’ll stay here for sure. The location is great, and everything felt perfect. Staff were helpful and welcoming, and the lobby amenities were superb. The in-room facilities were very good too. The bathroom was big and convenient, with a high quality Refa shower. The bathtub was relaxing, especially with the mineral aroma salt.

The train station is across the road, with 7-Eleven, Lawson and Seico Mart on every corner. We also picked up our rental car from Nippon Car Rental just one street away. The hotel is clean and has excellent free amenities, even face masks for guests. We stayed four nights, and this was our first time in Japan, with Sapporo as the first stop on a two weeks trip in Hokkaido. The friendly staff gave us one of our best Japan experiences, showing real respect, integrity, and diligence. We misunderstood something about housekeeping because we didn’t know better, and although it was entirely our fault, management resolved it and went above and beyond. We’re truly sorry for what we did and grateful to everyone at the hotel. We enjoyed our stay very much and couldn’t ask for more for the value we paid. We highly recommend it for Sapporo.
