karaksa hotel Sapporo

The rooms are well appointed, though they’re typical Japanese size, so expect to move things around if you pack heavily. The service is warm and friendly, and the staff speak conversational English, which is a plus. Karaksa Hotel in Sapporo is right in the heart of the city, close to everything you’ll need. I’d recommend it and would definitely book again for our next trip to this lovely city.

The room size was okay, and the bed and pillows were so comfortable that I didn’t wake up with a stiff neck. Housekeeping kindly left fresh towels at the door even though I’d forgotten to take down the “Do not disturb” sign. Staff were, as usual in Japan, very helpful and courteous. The hotel is on Tanukikoji Street 5, only a 3 mins walk from the airport bus pick up point. Excellent, I’ll be back.

It really surprised me how good the complimentary drinks and sweets on level 2 were. My family could pop out to buy things easily from the entrance right at Tanukikoji 5 Chome, or just head to the lounge for those refreshments. It’s probably the only hotel I’ve seen that provides such good quality amenities for guests to use. Definitely deserves 5 stars.

The Ofuro bath was clean and enough for a soak after a cold winter day in Sapporo, though it isn’t big. We had connecting rooms for our family of 5. They were clean and the beds were comfortable. Great location too, with plenty of restaurants and shops right outside.
