We had to take a bus to reach Teine station, so it wasn’t as close as we’d hoped. We also couldn’t tell whether the private room had a door lock or if we’d simply missed it. Still, the welcome was lovely. We messaged ahead to say we’d arrive after 9pm from Otaru, and they said it was fine and they’d wait at a nearby cafe. When we arrived, she helped with our things and suggested a good izakaya since we hadn’t eaten. The free breakfast was good, and she was very helpful with advice on where to go and how to get to our next destination.

The owner, Michi, was so welcoming and kind. The place is modern and clean, and the breakfast was easily the best we’ve had at a guest house in Japan. We heard some cars on the road, but the noise died down at night and we slept peacefully. The western-style beds were a welcome change from the futons you often get in guesthouses. A fantastic place for an overnight stay, highly recommend!

Michi-san made us feel at home from the first day. She was considerate and helpful, and took time to explain some Japanese faux pas to us. The guesthouse was clean, and breakfast was yummy. Just keep in mind that the walk from the station may be a lot if you don’t like walking. She’s a wonderful host who knows how to run a business.

Michi-san was incredibly sweet, and everything was clean and nice. The breakfast each morning was lovely. When I felt a bit ill, she even gave me a small bag with food and medicine. Such a wonderful stay!
