Sapporo Washington Hotel Plaza

The bathroom is split into three areas: sink, toilet, and a traditional sento. I liked the idea at first, but it wasn’t very practical since everything gets wet and you have to leave your towels outside. Could feel a bit awkward if you’re sharing with a friend. Still, the twin room was spacious and peaceful even on the third floor. The hotel is right by the train station, so it’s central, and booking it at the last minute turned out to be a nice surprise. I’d recommend it and wouldn’t mind coming back.

We needed a place for one night near Sapporo station, and this was an easy walk of about 150m. The room was on the small side, as expected, but had what we needed and was clean. The staff were helpful.

Great for one or two people. The bathtub is nice for a soak, and the TV has YouTube and Netflix. From the JR station, find exit 17 after coming off the green line. It takes you underground toward the hotel, about a block away, so you can avoid trudging through snow. Dragging luggage around outside is no fun. There’s a quicker, shorter JR exit too, but it’s harder to spot. It’s near a sandwich vending machine by the north gate. Definitely recommend.

I usually skip breakfast at hotels, but this one was worth trying. For less than ¥1,800, I got seafood chirashi / kaisendon, fried chicken, pork shogayaki, grilled fish, and plenty of other local dishes. The hotel is so convenient, too.
