Ikaho Onsen Ikahoshusuien

Even the cats were helpful! I traveled alone and all the staff welcomed me and helped with whatever I needed. It felt like home here, and I'm sad to leave. Thank you so much.

I was glad to find a room during peak season, especially since it was very cheap. The entrance and room had a great atmosphere, and I loved the retro feel. The public bath was great, too, and the famous steps are close by. If you're on a budget and like traditional rooms and baths, this is a superb choice. The person at reception was really nice as well.

The tatami room was exactly what I wanted, and the room itself was great. I chose the most affordable place for a last-minute solo trip to Ikaho Onsen, since I had few options and wanted a hot spring getaway. It was cold for that time of year. The room was warm at check-in, but I couldn't leave the stove running while I was out, so it was chilly when I returned. That's understandable. The large public bath being open around the clock was great, though the temperature seemed off. Maybe I arrived too late, but the water was lukewarm and it was hard to get out. That was the only downside. Otherwise, everything was good. Next time I'll go earlier in the day!

A cat lives here, and it's adorable. The traditional interior felt less like a luxury getaway and more like a place to enjoy quiet, everyday moments. The staff were very nice, and we had a relaxing stay. The hotel sits on a steep slope, like most places around here. Its large public bath wasn't too big and had just one bath, so there was no need to rush around. The water was warm at night and hot in the morning. Even during a three-day holiday, there were only one or two people there, so we could relax. There's an open-air bath, but it's separate from the main one. Parking is very limited, so we parked on the street as the hotel instructed. That seems to be normal here.
