Ikaho Onsen Ishizaka Ryokan

The hot spring water is smooth and high quality, flowing naturally straight from the source. Its minerals aren't too strong, and it warms you gently from within while leaving your skin smooth. That's one reason this is a favorite inn of mine. I visit whenever I can when I'm back in my hometown. The building is older, but I think it fits the feel of Ikaho's stone-paved streets. The rooms, on the other hand, are spotless, well cared for, and comfortable. Meals focus on mountain foods. They aren't especially extravagant, but every dish is prepared with care, and both the taste and presentation were excellent. The staff were attentive and offered seconds, and I really enjoyed the food. Ikaho has lots of hills, and the inn entrance is narrow and awkward to reach. Still, there's a large private parking lot just off the main road, and they'll pick you up if you contact them, so it wasn't a problem. The price was a little over 10,000 yen when I stayed, and I felt they made the most of it. Thank you for the hospitality. I'd definitely visit again.

The building is old, but it's well maintained, and the staff were very polite. I paid 12,250 yen for one night with two meals, which seems quite cheap even for Ikaho Onsen. The portions were generous, and that kind of value is hard to find now. I was also very pleased to get a free beer for booking by phone. The free-flowing hot spring bath had excellent water and temperature. I think the place is ideal for men traveling alone, students, or other solo travelers. I'd definitely come back on another hot spring trip to Gunma.

The mountain view from the room was beautiful, and the inn is a short walk from the famous Stone Steps Street. I've stayed here three times and would happily return. The exterior looks old-fashioned, but the place is well kept and the rooms are spotless. There's just one kind of bath, at a comfortable temperature for relaxing, and it's great for a long soak, even through the night. The meals aren't fancy, but there's plenty to eat.

All the inn staff were kind, and it was easy to see why I'd want to return. We stayed as two people from 12/27 to 12/28, paid 28,000 yen through Agoda, and I thought it was good value. The room was clean, and its toilet looked almost new. Our plan included dinner and breakfast. It was a shame the food had cooled down, but the Japanese dishes had gentle flavors and suited us after we'd been eating around town. I thought the meal was pretty good. There wasn't an open-air bath, but the spring water flowed straight from the source and left our skin smooth. For that time of year, the bath wasn't too crowded, and at some points, around 8pm and 8:50am, we had it to ourselves and could relax. They kept our luggage before check-in and after checkout, which helped a lot. It was the first inn that made me think I'd like to return. The stone steps street is about a three-minute walk away.
