The location is great, and we really enjoyed staying here. The rooms and facilities are clean and comfortable, and the service is friendly and welcoming.

The owners were welcoming, friendly, and helpful. They helped us find the beach and the nearest restaurant. The hotel is nicely located, with the beach no more than five minutes away and the nearest bus station about 20 minutes away. It’s quiet and relaxing too, with cicadas as the loudest sound, which is kind of relaxing in its own way. We had a very nice stay, and hopefully you will too. The price was the cheapest in the area, but you wouldn’t know it from the place, quite the opposite. One thing about getting there: Maps tells you to take a certain bus from the bus station, but if you have heavy luggage, don’t follow that advice. It drops you at stairs that take about 30 minutes to walk up. I really recommend taking a taxi from the bus station.

The obasan was really kind, and the room was clean and tidy. They offered hot water with green tea bags too, such a considerate touch in the chilly weather. Recommended!

It’s a pleasant 40-minute walk into Shimoda centre, and there’s a small, sheltered sandy beach just five minutes away. The rooms are huge, and the home-cooked breakfasts are delicious, especially the Japanese option. The owners of this small minshuku welcomed us from the moment we arrived, all smiles. What’s not to love?
