BYAKU Narai is a sake lover’s dream in the beautiful old town of Narai. The building, restored from an old sake factory, has world-class architecture while still keeping the spirit of sake making alive. The service was excellent, and the Nagano sake selection was amazing. A special thanks to sake sommelier Masumoto San for recommending such great Nagano sake. Spending time at your sake bar was the highlight of my trip. BYAKU Narai is just perfect!

What a lovely inn. Everyone on staff was so kind and made us feel welcome. We had a wonderful few days, and when we return to the Kiso Valley, we’ll stay at Byaku again. Thanks to all of you.

We stayed in room 106 for two nights, and its bedroom was one of the coziest we’ve ever had, especially listening to the rain outside. The restaurant was a real highlight, using fresh local ingredients with remarkable creativity. Even across breakfast, not one dish was repeated during our stay. Byaku gives a lovely, modern take on the traditional ryokan inns that used to stand in jukus along the old Nakasendo. It’s an absolute gem and well worth visiting.

The architecture, facilities, and attention to detail made this one of the most memorable stays of my life. I chose the hotel as the place to propose to my girlfriend, and the whole team at Bakyu were incredibly helpful in making sure we had an unforgettable evening.

Set in a fascinating old post town, this high-end ryokan is stunning. The staff were exceptionally kind and professional, with world-class Omotenashi. I really didn’t want to leave. Highly recommended!
