Shimizu City Hotel

It was so noisy I couldn’t sleep, like listening to time go by. What’s the point of a hotel if you can’t sleep comfortably?

The staff were kind and helpful, and I enjoyed the tasty breakfast. I stayed four nights. The hotel is about 50 meters from the train station, with lots of restaurants nearby and a shuttle bus from the station to the mall. Shizuoka is around ten minutes away by train. The room was clean and easy to get around in. It was a typical Japanese hotel room, small by American standards but normal sized for Japan. Laundry machines are available. I’d happily stay again.

The rooms are small, as you’d expect in Japan, but the location right beside Shimizu station is incredibly convenient. It was raining when I arrived, and although check-in wasn’t until 4 pm, the concierge saw me waiting in the lobby and let me in an hour early. Really lovely people!

The staff were very nice, and the price for what you get was excellent. The rooms are small, but that’s what you’re paying for. Even with the train station right in front of us, we had a comfortable stay.
