Guest House Wakabaya

Wakabaya sits in a quiet neighborhood, with good, frequent connections to central Takamatsu. I've stayed in plenty of guesthouses, and this one came close to perfect. The atmosphere was friendly, the interior was well planned and very clean, and host Takeshi put real time and effort into making our stay pleasant. His suggestions were great too: breakfast at Mellow Café near Hanazono Station and a visit to the modern onsen in Busshozan.

The place is very comfortable, with lots of thoughtful touches and services. What stayed with me most was how caring the owner was, and how enthusiastically they helped us. It was really heartwarming.

We were there for 4 nights and felt right at home, even with our one year old. The guesthouse was very comfortable, clean, and had everything we needed. Our host was kind, friendly, and attentive, with lots of great recommendations. We'll definitely stay again when we're next in Takamatsu. Thanks for everything!

If you're walking the Henro, this is a lovely place to stop. The owner shared detailed, thoughtful help for walking the 88 temples pilgrims route, including making reservations at both the start and end of our 10 day visit. That was invaluable and went above and beyond. Everything in the guest house was clean and well organized. The location is fine, though not especially good for exploring town. We stayed in a private room the first time, which I'd recommend over the dorm because of noise.
