The building looks a little dated, but it’s spotless and well cared for. The rooms are surprisingly spacious by Japanese hotel standards, and the bathrooms have generous shower and bathing areas. The onsen was the highlight: authentic, relaxing, and very clean, with indoor and outdoor baths plus a cold bath. The price is modest for that experience. There’s no breakfast service, but the kind staff will make you fresh, delicious coffee if you ask. They were especially helpful with luggage and made us feel welcome. I’d gladly stay again for a peaceful, traditional onsen visit without spending too much.

The food at both breakfast and dinner was quite good, and the staff were really kind. The water quality was not bad either. I tried the sauna only once during my three-night stay because it didn’t impress me much. For the price, the hotel is good value, but it may not suit you if you’re expecting a high-quality experience.

The staff were attentive and helpful, and went out of their way for guests. Both meals were tasty, healthy traditional Japanese food. Rooms are quite large by Japanese standards, and the onsen has indoor and outdoor pools, though its facilities are basic. The hotel could use refurbishment.

Getting to this nice little inn tucked in the hills might be tricky if you don’t drive. I was very happy with my stay: the room was comfortable, the food was traditional Japanese, and they give you the first sale for free. The onsen was great as well. I’d happily return when visiting Takamatsu.
