I stayed in the annex and liked being left to my own devices. The room was cleaned nicely, but there was no knife or cutting board. The toothbrush had only a thin smear of toothpaste, so after using it at night I obviously couldn't use it again in the morning. Guests basically have to take their rubbish, including cans and bottles, with them, yet the cleaning rules are strict if a pet has an accident. They say dogs come first, but it felt more like they were interested in making money. At checkout, they just sat there and said, “Be careful” (lol). 💦🙇♀️

The Tonchan-yaki was tasty, though I wish they'd written down the recipe. The dog run has areas for different dog sizes and can be used even when it rains. Depending on the room, you can park right outside. My dog loved running around, and I'd stay here again if I get the chance.

My dog and I had such a good time. I was nervous since he doesn't do well around other dogs, but they said he could use the small dog area when it was empty. He got to play there without feeling stressed. We'd love to come back.

The owner was the one bright spot for me that day. He seemed like a cheerful, friendly older man. The place itself was clean, though maybe that was because there weren't many people around. For somewhere calling itself a “resort,” the building felt more like a mountain lodge, and meals worked on a ticket system like at a hot spring inn. The prices were resort level without the atmosphere to match. I was stunned to pay 5700 yen for just one hour in the pool. Whether the dog run costs extra seemed to depend on luck. Poolside was piled with bags like a warehouse, and the toilets had no soap, so you had to wash your hands over the toilet bowl.

I come here whenever I'm in Shiga, and the dog run is spacious, very clean, and has water and trash cans. The dogs can relax and enjoy the space. The owner can sound a bit blunt, but I guess he's just a country bumpkin 🙂. I haven't had any of the bad experiences other reviewers describe. My one concern is the entrance. There's no second door, and there have been a few close calls. Accidents at other places seem really common, so please consider adding one 😭. I don't want a happy visit to turn into a sad memory.
