It gets HOT here in summer, and the place really is out in the middle of nowhere. Even so, it's one of the best value places I've stayed. Breakfast and dinner are included, so it's a BARGAIN, and you're close to one of the best snorkeling beaches anywhere in the Yaeyama islands. Booking directly saves some online fees. I've stayed twice and hope to return!

They'll pick you up at the port and take you back there, and the dinners are wonderful. My room was nice, the place was well equipped, and it was quiet. I had a great stay and would come back if I'm in the area again.

Kuroshima is only about four square miles, with around 200 people, one store, and just a few restaurants, so keep in mind this is a very rustic place. The beaches are beautiful and the snorkeling is epic. The hotel has bikes you can use for free. My wife and our 12-year-old twins have stayed here three times before, but this was my first visit. The family who runs it is so friendly and generous. When we're here, my kids play with their children and even go to school. Breakfast and dinner are included, both with plenty of hearty dishes. I didn't dive, but one guest did and came back with an octopus, which he ate on the beach with beer. We highly recommend it and will stay at Minshuku Kuroshima again.

The homemade bread on the second morning was especially good, and both breakfast and dinner were delicious. I spent two nights at this cozy guesthouse and felt right at home. The weather didn't cooperate, so I couldn't see the stars from the rooftop as I'd hoped. That gives me a reason to return to Kuroshima and stay here again. Thanks so much for a really lovely stay!
