We spent three days resting here during a break from cycling, and really enjoyed the peaceful stay. The onsen is large, clean, and hot, with a lovely sea view, and you can step outside to take it in. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with another great view and a small balcony. It’s an older place and a bit worn in spots, but still comfortable. I loved the reception area, especially the flowing water, and the man at the desk was always super friendly. Town is a short walk for food, supplies, trains, and ferries. If you’re visiting the area, I’d recommend staying here. Don’t let those fussy negative reviews put you off.

The futons, tatami, onsen, and vending machines are there, and the place has a lot of charm and atmosphere. It’s seen better days, though, and I wouldn’t recommend visiting in winter because the room was well below a comfortable temperature. There’s no restaurant.

The view was nice, but there are plenty of nearby options at a similar price with the same view. This hotel badly needs renovation. I’ve stayed in many older hotels in Japan and don’t mind age, but this one felt unusually run down, with wallpaper peeling in the lobby and dust and dirt everywhere. There’s no WiFi in the room, and the rooms aren’t soundproof, so light sleepers will hear everything. Our bathroom was dirty too, with hair in the sink and used toothbrushes on the floor. The manager came by to clean sporadically.

It’s an old onsen ryokan, not too far from the station, though finding your way there takes a bit of navigating. Most of the facilities are dated but still do their job. A decent budget stay if you just want the basics.

Dust everywhere, and the hallways smelled of stale cigarettes. It has a very Showa-era retro feel, and I can imagine the place was lively in the 80s, but it’s been poorly maintained and modernized.
