The owner is a gentle, kind man, and since he lives there too, the place has more of a homestay or boarding-house feel. We didn’t really interact much unless we made the effort ourselves. If you’re used to this kind of accommodation, that probably won’t bother you. Seems like it would suit groups of men or families.

I mostly stayed here for skiing, since there’s a snowboard tuning shop next door. It could also work well for the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale. The room was clean and roomy, with a kitchen, and the price was reasonable. There’s also a roadside station with a hot spring and a convenience store within walking distance.

We stayed here to get together with friends at the end of the year, and had a fun time thanks to the place!

For me, this is the best guesthouse in Niigata.
