Hotel Sunroute Tokushima

The room uses its space well, with the wash basin in the room and the toilet and bathroom separate. The bathroom has a bathtub and an onsen-style shower. The hotel is right across from the JR Station and bus stops for places like Naruto and Matsuyama. The indoor onsen water looked brownish, apparently from its high iron content, and there’s an outdoor jacuzzi pool.

I came to Tokushima with my daughter for New Year and picked this hotel after looking at a few options. It turned out to be the best choice I could have made, and helped make the trip fantastic. Every staff member was friendly, and the room was in excellent condition.

I had a good night’s sleep, and for this stay the room and location mattered most to me. The room was new, spacious, and excellent. The hotel is directly opposite the station, with the department store across the footbridge. I tried the rooftop onsen, but honestly it wasn’t especially memorable. It’s enclosed with no view, and the indoor bath is very rich in iron. The small outdoor jacuzzi wasn’t working during my visit. There’s also a sauna, which I didn’t try. I stayed one night with no meals.

I paid 13,000¥ for a weekend stay with buffet breakfast. I picked the hotel because I wanted a natural hot spring bath, but it was always busy and the water had a strong disinfectant smell like a swimming pool. I only used it once. I was VERY DISAPPOINTED and strongly hope they improve it ASAP. Breakfast also fell short. The buffet had limited choices and the food wasn’t hot enough. The room was OK, modern and spacious, with the toilet and bath separate. Service was OK, though the front area was usually congested. Would I return? NO.
