Akasaka Guesthouse HIVE - Hostel

I stayed four nights and had a brilliant time. The capsules were comfortable, roomy, and gave good privacy. The hostel was very clean and hygienic, with lots of cleaning going on, and the bathrooms and toilets were great. There were staff available 24/7 if anything came up. It’s well placed for local dining and hanging out, as well as exploring Tokyo. If you’re on a budget and want to see Tokyo, this hostel is a great starting point. Thank you.

The showers and toilets were clean, but the house was noisy and sound insulation was poor. The mattresses are very thin foam, so you can feel the wooden frame underneath when lying down. I had trouble sleeping.

The luggage area is a little small, though other guests had ski gear and it should be fine in summer. It’s well priced and in an excellent location in a quieter, wealthier part of Tokyo, with decent food options and train access to major sights. Beds were very comfortable, clean, and gave full privacy, with a power and USB outlet by each bed. The staff were kind and lovely, and all spoke English. Everything is cleaned daily, and they provide soap, shampoo, and conditioner.

After months in private rooms in India and SE Asia, I was nervous about going back to dorms, but this was the most comfortable dorm I’ve ever slept in and made the change easy. The bed was very comfortable, and the curtain gave me plenty of privacy. The staff are incredible, and the central location makes it easy to get around Tokyo fairly quickly.
