Apa Hotel Kanda Ekihigashi

I found the rooms comfortable, modern, and well equipped, even though they're compact in the usual Japanese style. The hotel worked well as a clean, affordable place to come back to after a day out. Its location is the real draw, with good transport connections, plenty of places to eat, and museums and major landmarks just steps away. A handy base if you want to spend your time exploring Tokyo.

There isn't much room, and the foam mattress gets too hot when the air conditioning isn't working properly.

The rooms were good value, and the staff were lovely and the service was great. I wasn't so lucky with the bed, though.

The final bill didn't match the rate we booked, and the staff couldn't fix their mistake after failing to give us breakfast vouchers, even though we'd said we wanted breakfast. They weren't helpful. There was just one small, slow elevator, and nowhere to sit in the lobby. Our room had dirty walls and carpets, poor cooling, and a window facing the wall of another building. The corridors were much the same. A terrible hotel.
