APA Hotel Nihonbashi Hamacho Ekiminami

Being right by the Sumida River was fantastic, and the neighborhood was peaceful, with plenty of restaurants and cafes within a 10-minute walk. The room was a little larger than at other APA locations I’ve stayed at, though still small. The bed was comfortable and the staff were friendly. Breakfast tasted good, but came as a choice of just four set meals instead of a buffet, so there wasn’t much variety. It’s still a convenient option for a shorter stay. Just be ready to wait: one elevator serving an 11-floor building is absurd. I don’t know why this place has lower reviews. I’d definitely stay again.

The room was compact but had what I needed for one person, including a refrigerator. It’s in a very central spot, with subway stations easy to reach. A very good hotel.

From the 11th floor I had a nice view of the Sumida-Gawa river. The room was fine for one person, and the self check-in machine scanned my passport quickly and accurately.

The peaceful residential setting was the best part for me. Take a little time to walk around and you’ll see another side of Tokyo. In the chilly May weather, sitting on a bench looking over the river was really relaxing. The room was small, but suited a solo traveler and had a river view. They ask about requests before your stay and try to accommodate them. T-CAT is about a 15-minute walk away. I realized airport limousine buses can be easier than trains when you have luggage, since you avoid station stairs. Breakfast was good with nice coffee, though the same four set meals are served every day. Rooms aren’t cleaned daily, but you can ask for service, and fresh towels are provided each day. The nearest station I’d suggest is Hamacho station (Shinjuku line S10), around a 5-10 minute walk. That’s fine if you don’t mind walking, but less convenient in rain. The area is so quiet that walking around at about 10PM can feel a bit strange. Since it’s residential, most people are out earlier. There aren’t convenience stores nearby; Family Mart is a 5-10 minute walk, and there’s a local shop too, but with fewer choices. There are no cabinets, so luggage and clothes go under the bed, with clothes hung on the wall. A good place if you want some quality time to yourself.
