The area is quiet, so there isn't a huge amount to do on foot and dinner choices nearby are limited. Still, it's fairly close to Tokyo station, and trains make getting around the city easy. I picked this place because it was about 500 meters from the Tokyo marathon finish line, and would stay again in a heartbeat. We stayed for the Tokyo marathon and loved the hotel. Our room was large and felt luxurious, with a handy little kitchenette. The exercise room was beautiful, the staff were amazing, and there was free coffee in the lobby. The restaurant food was average. We had breakfast once, which wasn't worth it, and lunch once. You have to go up to the 22nd floor to reach the lobby.

The apartment is clean and well equipped, with newer appliances and an in-room laundry unit. It has a polished serviced-apartment feel, though I wouldn't put it in the same bracket as a traditional full-service hotel. There's no luggage handling, doormen, spa, room service, or included snacks and daily amenities, so it feels fairly bare bones by comparison. We did have a lovely surprise during a birthday stay for my partner. The staff put together a small bag of snacks and even a "box" of gin. It was thoughtful and generous, especially beside the three macarons Oakwood had given us for a birthday there. Our main frustration was the outlook. We were on the 23rd floor, with the property spanning floors 22-29, and a tall building directly opposite completely blocked the north-facing room's view. It felt odd that a request for a high floor left us only one floor above the lobby. The receptionist said all One-Bedroom Executive rooms face north toward those buildings, so none has a real view. They offered a lower-tier room, but wouldn't refund the price difference, and management wouldn't agree to moving us to another Ascott property. We accepted that we were stuck with the room and let it go. The One-Bedroom Executive is their largest one-bedroom suite, and it was roomy, modern, and very clean. Still, Oakwood's smaller layout made better use of space, and its oversized king bed was a highlight. Ascott's standard king was fine, just less distinctive. Two toilets were useful when traveling with a partner. The kitchen is cramped enough that the fridge door can scrape your knuckles unless you make room first. We could almost imagine hearing meetings in the neighboring offices. The front desk was always polite, though quite strict. Nobody could help with our heavy bags from the ground floor to the lobby, but they did offer help carrying them from the lobby to our room. We declined. The pool runs until around 8 pm and needs a reservation, while the gym is open all day and night. The restaurant serves breakfast and lunch, not dinner. Staff pointed out the restaurants on the bottom floor, which is true, but the lack of dinner service still feels like a gap if you expect a full hotel setup. The location works well for Marunouchi, with Tokyo Station about a 15-minute walk away. It's a quiet, business-focused neighborhood, less touristy than the other side of the station, the palace area, or the busier shopping districts. Edit: I'm adding a star for the great service in the days that followed. They handled a maintenance request with real care and went above and beyond.

We'd be happy to stay here again. The staff were professional and polite, and our apartment-hotel room was quiet and spacious. It came with a large TV in both the bedroom and living room, a fully usable kitchen, and two bathrooms.

The pool was spotless, and using reservations for it is a great idea. The hotel itself is beautiful, with tasteful artwork and large, practical rooms. Breakfast was great, and the staff provided excellent service.
