bnb+ Ueno Okachimachi - Hostel

A very compact pod hostel, but it has everything you need. There's USB charging, too.

The location is hard to beat, and the small room is acceptable for being so central. Outside noise wasn't an issue, but sounds from other capsule guests are a gamble. One person's alarm kept going from around 4:30am, maybe they meant to get everyone up for sightseeing, and someone else was on the phone at 5:20am. There was no luggage storage. The check-in PIN took so long to arrive that I thought I'd be sleeping on the street, and Agoda chat didn't respond.

It's a really nice area, about a 15-minute walk from Akihabara and the main stations. You don't hear the surrounding entertainment district, surprisingly. Inside, though, it depends who else is staying. People are often packing and talking, so bring earplugs. Towels are almost always unavailable, depending on the roommates.

There was no lift, which was a problem with my heavy luggage. I arrived around 9 pm, and no one was at reception. When we checked our capsule hotel, the room was very dirty and had bugs. I wouldn't recommend this place if basic cleanliness matters to you.
