Comfort Inn Tokyo Roppongi

The Thai breakfast was a real surprise, and I’d definitely recommend it. Staff were friendly and attentive, and the room had a handy humidifier. I booked a queen bed, which gave me a room that felt quite spacious by Japanese standards. I was very pleased with the stay.

The room was 35 degrees Celsius, and turning the AC down to 15 degrees Celsius barely helped. It was too hot to sleep. I’d booked two nights, but checked out before 10 a.m. the next day. They wouldn’t refund the night I didn’t use. I’d have slept better on the sidewalk, and you couldn’t pay me to stay there again. Don’t invite me back to your terrarium, you lizards.

The sheets, shower, and toilet were clean, and I was satisfied overall. Roppongi station is a two-minute walk away, with convenience stores, cafes, shops, and ramen places about three to ten minutes on foot. The lobby has free drinking water, coffee, and tea from 7 to 10 a.m. and again from 2 p.m. until midnight.

The rates and location were good, but the rest of my four-day business stay was subpar. I booked a single twin bed, but got two twin beds in a room so cramped there was barely space to walk. I had to shorten the stay when my flight was moved earlier, and told them promptly to remove one day. At checkout they said everything was fine, but then wouldn’t refund the cancelled night. The receptionist laughed and giggled on the phone with customer support, then offered a handwritten receipt. When I asked if my credit card statement would show those handwritten notes, she said it would only show the original amount. Pathetic.
