Grids Tokyo Asakusa-Bashi Hotel&Hostel

The facilities were small but clean, and for Tokyo it was fantastic value. This isn't a particularly touristy part of town, but there are plenty of restaurants and convenience stores around, and the train station is about 500 meters away. The staff mostly left us alone and weren't as friendly as people at other hostels I've stayed in. That might actually suit you if you'd rather be left to yourself.

I stayed in a mixed dorm and had no problems. My bunkmates were respectful, the bathrooms were clean, and there was a small locker plus luggage space under the beds. It's a quiet hostel in a good location, and the price was great. Breakfast was Japanese style and cost 600 yen. Happy hour beers were cheap, and towel rental was 200 yen. There wasn't much mingling in the downstairs common area, though that might just have been the crowd during my stay.

It's conveniently placed near the train station, with a cafe and bar on the first floor. The hostel is modern and wonderful for a Tokyo stay. The dorm room is fairly spacious, and a locker comes with hangers and slippers. The bed isn't especially thick, but it was comfortable. There's a lift, so guests don't have to take the stairs. The staff speak English, which is handy for overseas guests. They serve Western-style breakfast for a fee. In winter the central AC switches to heating, so you don't have to deal with the cold. The toilet and washroom were super clean. Highly recommended!

I spent three nights in the women's room. It was clean and comfortable, with a locker for my suitcase and valuables. The staff were kind and helpful, and the free WiFi was really fast. The location is great, with the train station, Family Mart, and 7eleven all within walking distance. There's another Grids nearby, so be sure you're heading to the right hostel.
